18 Antique police stations now with internal affairs desks

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Internal Affairs Service (IAS) desks have been put in place in all 18 municipal police stations in Antique for immediate action on complaints against erring officers on the force.Antique Provincial IAS officer-in-charge Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS) Jeane Sullivan on Tuesday said the desks were established as early as February this year in compliance with the directive of Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo.“The IAS desk provides the general public an avenue where they can voice their concerns about police personnel and organization without hesitation and apprehension,” Sullivan said in an interview. The IAS, however, is not only meant for filing complaints but also for commendation to reward the exemplary performance of exceptional police officers. She added that unlike before when the complainants still had to go to the IAS office at the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) in San Jose de Buenavista, now they only had to go to their nearest police stations. The IAS focal person in the municipal police stations will assist the complainants by encoding their grievances in the online system that is linked with the provincial IAS.The provincial IAS will evaluate the complaint and conduct the pre-charge conference between the complainant and the respondent.“Every two months also we visit the police stations for monitoring,” Sullivan said. She said as of now there is only a single complaint of grave misconduct filed against a police officer and they are already done with the conduct of the pre-charge conference.
